And after that the real fun began. We got to go on a tour with one of the curators of the museum and he told us about the whole process of the beginning of the museum. It was really great to get to hear all about the museum, there was definitely a lot I learned during our private tour.
If you ever have the chance to go to this museum you HAVE to see the two movies there- Ghosts of the Library and Lincoln's Eyes. We saw Ghosts of the Library first and it was amazing. They take you into a room that looks like you are looking into a library. The actor comes out and tells you stories about Lincoln but they use some sort of holographic images to tell the stories. Think of when the Indians in the Pocahontas movie use smoke to tell stories, that's exactly what they did!
The second movie, Lincoln's Eyes, was in a different theatre. It was a movie. You sit down in seats in the Union Theatre and then they draw the curtains. Up pop three different movie screens, giving you an almost panoramic movie viewing experience. But this is no ordinary movie, it almost feels like something you would experience at Disneyland. With chairs that vibrate and dramatic sounds, you feel like you are actually there in the 1800's experiencing the Civil War and other events.
