Yogurt Isn't Ice Cream

My coworkers are a bunch of goobers. Just crazy, weirdos that....well are very much themselves.

For example last week I was doing some paperwork while the guys were cleaning and I turned on some music on my phone. Lionell comes over after hearing the music, listens for a minute and says, "Teresa I really like this song. Who is it? Is this Lionell Ritchie?"
"No."
"Is it Luther Vandross?"
"No...it's One Direction." (I guess in his defense I was on a Luther Vandross phase that week.)

At least working with these guys there's never a dull moment. And I think I might have gotten my coworkers obsessed with frozen yogurt. We eat it all the time. Now I've gotta start going to the gym. Ooops. Maybe we'll have to slow down with the food after work.

Also today TJ did his redneck accent for me and it was almost creepy how good it was. 'Murica. 'Nuff said.

Life Is A Test

Everytime I leave the testing center and I see my score, I remember this bumper sticker I saw a while ago. And it's not gonna be any better in three weeks when we have finals. Boooo.

I guess that's just what I get for going to a private university. The overachievers of the overachievers.
I need to start remembering a quote I once heard. "A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor." Here's to life and all the tests it brings to us.

Sometimes I Think I'm Poly

I have this huge love for dancing, mainly cultural dancing. And originally this post was going to be a tutorial post (because I'm trying to branch out in my blog posts) until I realized I don't really remember how to make poi balls. (So this is also a word of warning to myself because I always post everything suuuuper late.) So here's some watered down instructions for how to make them.
First. Get three different colors of yarn, some cotton and garbage bags.

Second. Cut the strings so you have four sets. I originally started have three, but then I realized I needed a fourth. I eventually ended up doing my fourth set another white color so that the red would stand out more. These were for short poi, so they should be the length from your palm to your forearm. You'll then cut them in half.

Third.  Now that you have the halves it's time to tie them together and then braid them. You'll be left with 4 sets of three (or at least I think that's what it should be). Now for braiding them going from left to right, you'll start going over one and under two. If you're not as crafty as I am, you're going to be talking this pattern out to yourself for every move. And a big thanks to Momi for being my foot model for this.

Fourth. Once it's all braided and you've tied off the bottom, you're going to cut the garbage bag in a circle, the bigger the better but don't go too big. Put in the cotton in the bag and fill it tight until you get your desired size. Then voila! You have your own set of poi balls.

And in other exciting news, I applied for my internship last night! Wahoooo. Cross your fingers for me everyone. But if I don't get it, at least I've still got a bit more school to go through.

Seesterly Love

The little sister came down to visit me for the weekend a few weeks ago. (I know I'm horrible at updating my blog. I feel like everything I post is after a few weeks. That's what happens when life get's crazy I guess.) But it was great to have her down here. I got to introduce her to everything she hadn't done in Provo yet. We went shopping of course and bought her some sun glasses for her trip to California next week.

And now to the good stuff. If you haven't been to the Chocolate House on State Street, GO! I love it so much. Thank goodness for girlfriends and sisters that are willing to go with you when no one else will. We got the ever so popular cazookie and a mint brownie and let's just say that we ate until we hated ourselves. But who can blame us when it tastes so good!

Then it was Comedy Sportz time. Neither of us had been there and it was hilarious. Definitely a great idea and a fun time. Thanks Cece for coming to visit me. And thanks for ditching our woman date this weekend, but hey I guess prom is important.

Another Farewell

Today Blaze enters the MTC. Actually looking at the time right now, he's just barely entered. I am so proud of this kid. I think everyone at work is gonna miss him. On his last night TJ gave him a hug and was getting what is emotional for TJ and he gave him another hug. Awh those boys do have hearts.
Blaze did an amazing job at his farewell talk. It was one of those talks that everyone needs to hear. He talked about how we show our love for Christ through our service. I didn't see an almost 19 year old boy up there when he was talking but someone who was wise beyond his years.
I know that Blaze's choice to serve a mission is the best thing that he could do. I know his family is going to be blessed sending him off for two years and I really hope that they will open their hearts to the missionaries and take a lesson or two.

We all sure are gonna miss this kid. But we're all so proud of him and probably couldn't be prouder. We became more than just coworkers, I'd call us a little family. We'll see you in two years Elder Gurney. In the mean time go baptize all of Chicago!

Another Year Older

So this post was a little while back but it still is a story to be told. A few weekends ago was Noke's birthday. So we do what everyone loves best: eating and karaoke. I was afraid I wasn't going to make it up for the birthday lunch because after luau practice it began to snow...and snow hard. It looked like a blizzard. Thank you modern technology for being able to predict when there would be a break in the storm, because I made it up to Salt Lake in one piece. Lunch with the entire family (and when I say entire, I mean some aunts and cousins too) went pretty well.

Afterwards we went shopping and I have never seen a guy so picky in my entire life. "No I don't want those shoes, the logo is yellow and it just won't match with my outfits. No these shoes just aren't me. No I don't like that color. No I don't like how they lace up. No I don't the way they look on me. I don't know what I would wear this pair with." After finally going to 2 different malls and spending about 4 hours shopping, we finally found him two pairs of shoes that he liked.

And then the highlight of the night was karaoke time. Noke's little brother came with us but fell asleep at the table by about 11. I can't really blame him though, he's only 13 but he looks like he's at least 18.

I won't lie though, I was partially tramautized when Noke and the boys got up to sing Bootylicious by Destiny's Child. Um...please boys just stop. But it sure made for some great moments. And no one could forget when the lady running the karaoke club would sing every other song. And we're not kidding when we say every other song. Noke just couldn't bear her having all of the limelight on his birthday so he ended up singing with her. It was bad, let's just leave it at that.

Here's to another year of life.

Another Post About Home

So perk number 5341 about going home? Your little sister gets on your computer, uses your webcam and then forgets to delete the pictures. It's a good thing she's pretty and her pictures don't look too bad. Oh my spunky little sister.

And then of course I see her on my computer and go join her for picture time.

At least she makes me laugh.

You Sly Dog

What's another perk of going home for a day or two? Getting to see my baby, my puppy. Well I guess he's a year old now, so is he still considered a puppy? He still thinks that he is a puppy, if that counts for anything. He also thinks he only weighs 30 pounds, not the 90+ pounds that he actually does.
When I go home though, I try to take pictures of him all the time. I feel like after a while he gets tired of pictures, as you can tell by this picture. He's rolling his eyes at me, almost saying "Another picture???" Yes Samson, another one.

So that's when I do a sneak attack when he's sleeping.

Or someone else gets a sneak attack of both of us sleeping. And I just want to let you all know that this picture started out with us cuddling, until he pushed me away from him.

And of course, a mooching picture. It doesn't matter what it is that we have, he wants it. One time I was eating some BBQ chicken and I got up from the table to chase Samson because he stole my phone and was running around with it in his mouth. As I was running after him, he put down my phone and ran over to the table and grabbed my piece of chicken and literally ate it in 8 seconds. He swallowed it WHOLE, bones and all. Yep that's my dog. I don't even think dogs are supposed to have chicken.
